Gypsum is the name of a mineral group, of which selenite is a member. It is a very soft mineral and precipitates out of water therefore to take the best care, keep this one out of water. Crystallised gypsum can take on many unique shapes and forms. Selenite is a beautiful mineral known for its soft, ethereal glow and natural crystal striations, which create a captivating chatoyancy known as a "cat's eye" effect.
