Ruby

Al₂O₃ | Mohs 9 | Hexagonal crystal system

Ruby is a very strong mineral with a hardness of 9, sharing it's Al₂O₃ chemistry with sapphire. Both are a variety or corundum, ruby is the pink - red variety. Some chromium bearing rubies will fluoresce under UV light.
